Safar Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 31, 2026
How Safar handles information when you use the app, widgets, audio, subscriptions, and CarPlay-related features.
Information We Collect
Safar may collect or process the following information:
- Device identifier generated by the app for app functionality and subscription/account association
- App settings, selected language, selected widgets, widget order, and favorite content
- Approximate or current location if you grant location permission
- Heading, movement direction, or location-derived data used for Qibla direction and driving context
- Selected photo image data if you choose a photo
- Subscription and entitlement status provided by Apple and RevenueCat
- Basic app version, device model, OS version, locale, and registration metadata sent to our backend
- Product analytics events such as app opens, onboarding completion, tab views, widget opens, CarPlay connections, paywall views, checkout starts, and subscription starts
- Cached religious content, prayer time data, and library content
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Calculate or display prayer times and Qibla direction
- Save and sync selected widgets between the app, widgets, and CarPlay-related views
- Play audio content and show Now Playing metadata
- Show selected photos in the Photo widget
- Check Premium entitlement and restore purchases
- Register the device with our backend for app functionality
- Measure feature usage, onboarding completion, retention, and subscription funnels
- Improve reliability, localization, and user experience
Location Data
Location permission is optional. If granted, Safar uses your location to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction. If location is unavailable or permission is denied, the app may use a default location.
Location data may be cached locally and mirrored to the app group container so widgets can access it.
Photos
If you select a photo for the Photo widget, the app stores a compressed copy locally and may share it with the widget extension through the app group container. The app does not need access to your full photo library unless you choose a photo through the system photo picker.
Subscriptions and Purchases
Safar uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status and Premium entitlement checks. Apple processes purchases through your Apple ID. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
RevenueCat may process purchase identifiers, entitlement status, app user identifiers, product identifiers, and related subscription metadata according to its own policies.
Advertising Attribution
Safar may use Apple AdServices through RevenueCat, as well as advertising attribution services such as TikTok, Meta, Google/Firebase, and Snapchat, to understand whether ad campaigns lead to app installs, paywall views, checkout starts, subscription events, or later renewals. Apple AdServices attribution may associate an install with Apple Ads campaign, ad group, keyword, country or region, placement, and click- or impression-based attribution fields when Apple makes them available. These services may also receive app event names, product identifiers, app/device metadata, app-generated identifiers, device IP address, user agent, advertising consent status, and similar attribution signals. We do not send payment card details.
Product Analytics
Safar uses PostHog to measure how the app is used, including app lifecycle, onboarding, feature navigation, widget, CarPlay, paywall, checkout, and subscription events. PostHog may process an app-generated identifier, event names, selected app language, Premium status, app/device metadata, IP address, and an approximate region derived from network metadata.
We do not send precise location coordinates, selected photos, payment card details, Quran, dua, or hadith content to PostHog. Session replay and automatic element-interaction capture are disabled.
Backend Services
The app may communicate with our backend to register the device, fetch daily content, fetch prayer times, and maintain app functionality. Backend requests may include app-generated device ID, selected language, selected prayer calculation method, location coordinates if available, app version, OS version, and locale.
Third-Party Services
The app may rely on third-party services or content providers for:
- Subscription and entitlement management
- Prayer time calculations
- Quran audio or other religious content
- Backend hosting and app infrastructure
- Product analytics
Data Storage
The app stores settings, cached content, selected widgets, subscription cache, and selected photo data locally on your device. Some values are stored in an app group container so the main app and widgets can share them.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only as needed to operate the app, process subscriptions, provide backend features, comply with legal obligations, or protect the app and users.
Data Retention
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, clear it through app controls where available, or uninstall the app. Backend and subscription-related data may be retained as needed for app functionality, accounting, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and support.
Children's Privacy
Safar is not intended to collect personal information from children without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.
Your Choices
You can:
- Deny or revoke location permission in iOS Settings
- Remove or change the selected Photo
- Manage subscriptions in your Apple ID settings
- Restore purchases in the app
- Delete the app to remove local app data from your device
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect app data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. The effective date will be updated when changes are made.
